Meeting Manja Kritzinger from Realtors International | Durbanville

I will be the first to admit that as a result of less than average experiences with real estate agents in the past, I had a fairly dim view of people within this industry. That was until I met Manja Kritzinger owner of Realtors International in Durbanville.

The company previously traded as Manja Kritzinger and later Greenlands Property Group. In keeping with the property trend and in order to generate international exposure, the company became associated with Realtors International coalition.

Manja has been running her own business for over 20 years. During this time the main business lessons include:

"You need to exceed your clients’ and employees’ expectations. This is achieved by employing only the best, and then learning how to delegate and to trust your team. When you have the best people on your side, it makes delegation a lot easier."

How does Manja motivate herself to keep going?

"It’s about working on the business and enjoying the basics of what it takes to make the business tick." Manja gets her energy from people, so interacting and regular communication with her clients are key drivers to keep her going.

In the real estate industry, strategic partnerships  are very important as part of the overall client experience, how does Manja use these partnerships to her advantage?

"Referrals and new business get generated through these relationships, so who your business associates with become very important, i.e. who you align yourself with is who you will attract as well.

"To maximise these partnerships to your advantage, you need to tap into their expertise, sponsorship and education opportunities."

When it comes to marketing, you need to be seen! “Go big or go home," is Manja's philosophy.  "Your marketing messages need to be consistent and stylish, and especially in this industry it is important to market yourself. Media exposure in the form of editorials are also very important to form part of the awareness-creating mix.”

What does integrity in the workplace mean to Manja?
"Respect for all at all times, as well as being transparent in all your dealings"

The biggest communication frustration in the workplace is when there is a breakdown of communication due to systems not working optimally, this is especially evident when there is a change in the chain of command. "Having clear, well documented processes in place is very important to mitigate this problem and to ensure communication continues during transition periods. This is easier said than done, but something that is very important to continuously update."

There are bound to be frustrations when when it comes to running a business? The main frustrations are when people do not share my vision for the business and when employees are reluctant and afraid of change."

What does Manja love most about running a business? "Being able to empower young people and to see them grow within the profession. Running your own business also brings with it a sense of freedom and being able to do what I want to, as well as being able to give back."
